"Can I design the vinyl box truck graphics online myself?"

There are two ways to design the vinyl box truck graphics yourself.

1) If you have a graphics program, you can e-mail us your own design
2) The second way is by using our SignMagic Online Design Center

There's a trick to using SignMagic to design the vinyl lettering for your box truck though. Once you know this trick, it's pretty easy. If you want to design your box truck graphics online using SignMagic, start by measuring your box truck.

Specifically, measure the area where the box truck lettering will comfortably fit.

The second step is to select the "box size" in SignMagic that most closely matches that measurement. For example, a box sized 4' tall x 8' wide will usually fit on a box truck. And then just make sure all the box truck lettering and graphics you design online, fits within that box.

"Can my own logo, artwork or photo be used?"

Yes! Your artwork, photograph or company logo can be produced into a highly professional, beautiful, vinyl box truck graphic image.

"Can you use my exact letter style for my vinyl box truck lettering?"

Yes! We can use the exact letter style (font) for your vinyl box truck lettering. Just let us know what you have in mind and we're happy to accommodate your requests.

"Do you guarantee a perfect fit?"

Getting the box truck lettering and graphics to fit perfectly is quite easy with our system! Once the design is finalized, we'll e-mail you a design with all the measurements of the vinyl letters & graphics.

With these measurements, simply measure the corresponding areas on your box truck to make certain all of the box truck lettering will fit exactly like you want it. The same program we use to design your box truck lettering is used to PRODUCE the vinyl lettering. So there's absolutely no difference between the sizes you'll see in the design and the sizes actually produced and shipped.

"Do you charge for box truck lettering by the letter?"

No, we don't charge for box truck lettering by the letter anymore. That's how we did it in the "old days" back in the 80's and 90's.

Vinyl box truck lettering and box truck graphics are now priced by the overall size of the vinyl graphics, the number of colors and the level of complexity. Plus, there's one other factor which affects the final price - the grade of vinyl you choose (Standard, Premium or Reflective).

These variables are reflected in our online box truck lettering pricing calculator.

The very best way to save money on your vinyl box truck lettering and graphics is to order the custom vinyl and apply it yourself. You can literally save about 70% over full service prices! And with our Goof Proof Guarantee, there's nothing to lose!

"Do you have clipart available for vinyl box truck graphics?"

We now have access to a gazillion clipart images to use for vinyl box truck graphics! Here's how it works. The Clipart.com website has an advanced search tool built right in. Sort of like Google.

For example, we found this image for an attorney by searching for "scales of justice" at the Clipart.com website.

Once you find the clipart you want for your vinyl box truck graphics, just e-mail us the item number. We have a subscription so we'll upload the clipart you've selected right into your box truck lettering design or your online account folder to use at your discretion.

For free!

Of course, this takes a few minutes. But the enormous variety of free graphics to use for your box truck at Clipart.com, more than makes up for the temporary inconvenience. It just wouldn't be practical to offer the same variety of images for box truck graphics on our own website.

"Can you supply photos or other full-color artwork for my vinyl graphics?"

Yes! If you don't find what your looking for at Clipart.com, we highly recommend trying Istockphoto.com. Istockphoto.com has an even more impressive selection of pictures and artwork to choose from to enhance your vinyl graphics.

Once you use their search tool to find the picture or artwork you want, just e-mail us the item number and we will incorporate the artwork into your design online.

Again, this will take a few minutes. But Istockphoto.com provides such a broad range of quality pictures to choose from, it's well worth it when you want to enhance the appearance of your vinyl box truck graphics.

"Can you design my company logo to put on my box truck?"

Absolutely!

Our graphic designer is unusually gifted. So if you need a new company logo designed, custom design services are available for $75 per hour. Once your logo is finalized, we can produce the vinyl graphics for your box truck.

"Are designs free?"

Yes!

Layouts and designs are free!

If you want to see a design before you buy, we offer a live, online design service for box truck lettering and graphics. We'll show you exactly what your vinyl letters will look like placed on your make and model box truck.

Designs for vinyl box truck lettering and graphics are also free with every order! Once you place your order, we'll e-mail your design showing you what the vinyl letters and/or vinyl graphics will look like, right on your make and model box truck.

"What if I want changes made to the box truck lettering design?"

We don't charge for layout and design changes because we want you to be completely happy with your vinyl box truck lettering and graphics when they arrive! So please request all the changes you want, before you give us final approval.

Changes are complimentary.

"Can you design a box truck wrap for me?"

Yes!

However, unless you are highly experienced in wrapping box trucks, it's not practical to install your own vinyl box truck wrap. Vinyl box truck wraps take specialized skills and tools to apply properly.

If you happen to reside in the Lowcountry around Charleston, North Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, Summerville, Goose Creek, Moncks Corner, Johns Island, James Island, Seabrook, or Kiawah Island, South Carolina, we would love the opportunity to work one-on-one with you to get the box truck wrap design you want.

"Will the vinyl box truck lettering and graphics look exactly like the design displayed on my monitor?"

Not exactly. But very, very close.

The colors displayed on your monitor will not perfectly match the colors of the vinyl box truck graphics. There are slight variations because:

  1. Everyone uses different computer monitors and settings

  2. A computer screen is illuminated (lit up), so the colors of box truck lettering will appear different on your monitor than the vinyl graphics appear in real life.

  3. And viewing the vinyl box truck lettering itself in different lighting conditions can affect the way the colors appear in person.

If matching a particular color is critically important, we can send out a free color sample prior to producing your order.

"May I make a correction to my order after it has been submitted?"

Since orders are transmitted to production immediately after your final design approval, it is generally impossible to make further corrections or changes. If you have just placed your order though and have a last minute change, please CALL customer service immediately.

The telephone is still the fastest way to communicate urgent matters.

If the vinyl box truck lettering or graphics haven't been produced yet, we are happy to make the change for you at no charge!

"Can you design a license plate for me to go with my box truck lettering?"

Of course! We often design custom license plates to go hand-in-hand with the new vinyl box truck lettering and graphics. Be sure to ask your customer service specialist.

Technical Data About Vinyl Automotive Lettering & Automotive Graphics

"How are vinyl box truck graphics produced?"

Vinyl box truck lettering and box truck graphics are produced three different ways.

  1. The most common way to produce vinyl box truck lettering is from rolls of vinyl. The raw vinyl material itself resembles bumper sticker material. We load rolls of colored vinyl into a computer controlled cutting machine called a plotter or vinyl cutter. The plotter plots the outermost path (edge) of the lettering and images in the design.

And once the path or course is plotted out, the vinyl cutter contour cuts the vinyl into letters, shapes and graphics. When you apply these letters, shapes and graphics onto your box truck, the images will appear as if they are printed right onto the box truck's painted surface.

  2. Vinyl box truck Graphics are also commonly printed. Full-color digital sign printers print vibrant, water proof ink colors right onto the self-adhesive vinyl. The range of colors, designs and sizes that can be printed for your new vinyl box truck graphics is virtually unlimited.

  3. And the third way vinyl box truck lettering and graphics are produced is with a combination of printing and contour cutting. Instead of being limited to simple shapes like a square or rectangle, printed box truck graphics can then be contour cut by the plotter. Having the ability to contour cut printed graphics into any shape (including letters) gives you a much broader range of colors and other design options for your box truck lettering project.

"What's the difference between vinyl box truck lettering, vinyl graphics and vinyl decals?"

Understanding the differences between vinyl box truck lettering, vinyl graphics and vinyl decals is critically important so you'll know exactly what to expect.

Vinyl box truck lettering is where the vinyl is contour cut into individual letters, numbers or words, just like your final design. "Individual" meaning, there's no white or clear backing. So when you apply the vinyl letters or contour cut shapes (vinyl logos or graphics) to your box truck, the lettering will appear as if it's printed right onto the box truck's surface.

Vinyl box truck graphics and vinyl logos are produced three different ways:

  1. Vinyl logos and vinyl graphics can be contour cut by the plotter and is the most common method for 1-3 color images

  2. Colorful and complex logos and graphics can be digitally printed directly onto the box truck vinyl with ease

  3. And for a truly custom look, digitally printed box truck graphics can be contour cut into any shape simple shapes like squares, rectangles and circles and complex, custom shapes like the shape of the logo or graphic itself

To make sure we are all on the same page, we consider vinyl box truck decals to be "digitally printed vinyl graphics". A decal is basically a "sticker" with letters or an image printed on it. Essentially, a printed decal is similar in appearance to digitally printed vinyl box truck graphics. Except that digitally printed vinyl box truck graphics are a bit more sophisticated and upscale in their appearance than just a "big sticker".

"What are other names commonly used to 'Google' vinyl box truck graphics?"

The world searches for vinyl box truck graphics in a multitude of ways. Here are some classic examples: box truck lettering, box truck graphics, commercial truck lettering, truck decals, commercial truck graphics, truck lettering, commercial truck decals, truck graphics, vinyl window lettering, vehicle graphics, vinyl truck stickers, automotive graphics, automotive lettering and even some common misspelled words like vinal box truck letters, vynil box truck lettering, vynal box truck graphics and grafics.

"How many letter styles are available for box truck lettering?"

There are just over 100 letter styles in SignMagic which can be used for vinyl box truck lettering. Plus, in our box truck graphics department, we have over 1,000 letter styles in our font library.

If you have a particular font you want us to use, just let us know what it is. If we don't have it already, we can probably get it either online or possibly, directly from you.

"How many colors are available for vinyl box truck lettering?"

We have dozens of colors and shades in stock for your vinyl box truck lettering and graphics. Plus, we can print just about any color you can imagine!

"How long will my vinyl box truck graphics last?"

Vinyl box truck graphics are surprisingly durable considering the amount of abuse they must withstand. The high tack adhesive system on modern vinyl lettering material will withstand hundreds of car washes, weather and temperature extremes, PLUS, the wind pressure while traveling at high speeds down the interstate.

But that doesn't answer your question as to how long your new vinyl box truck graphics will last!

So without further ado, here's the answer:

When you only need 2-3 years of life out of your vinyl, go with the "Standard Option". The standard option includes our intermediate vinyl which is value priced for short term application on box trucks. In spite of the fact that the vinyl manufacturers claim "5 Year Durability" on their intermediate grade vinyl graphics, that's an exaggeration.

Sure, if you keep your box truck in the garage for 5 years, you might get that kind of life span out of vinyl. But for general use, "wear & tear", you really shouldn't count on getting more than 3 years out of intermediate grade, vinyl box truck graphics. And it's actually a safer bet to only count on 2 years!

When you expect to keep your box truck more than 2 years, we recommend the "Premium Option" for vinyl box truck lettering and graphics. The premium option includes premium, high performance grade vinyl which is rated for 7-8 years outdoors.

However, it's not at all unusual for premium grade vinyl graphics to last even longer on box trucks than the manufacturer's own rating. At a minimum, you can expect our Premium Grade Vinyl to last 3 times longer than Intermediate Grade Vinyl Graphics. The price difference is only 30% more for premium vinyl box truck graphics - but the premium vinyl box truck lettering will last 300% longer!

Reflective vinyl is one of the sturdiest of all the vinyl box truck graphics materials and performs as well, if not better, than the premium grade vinyl graphics lasting 7 years or more.

"How long does it take to make vinyl box truck lettering and graphics?"

Once you approve the final design, turnaround time is 24-48 hours to ship vinyl box truck letters and graphics.

Box Truck Window

"What kind of vinyl lettering do you recommend for the box truck windows?"

For box truck windows, we recommend the contour cut, vinyl letters and graphics. One of the reasons we recommend the contour cut lettering is because you can see in and around each letter through the glass maintaining a high level of visibility while driving.

However, when it comes to vinyl box truck graphics for your glass windows, there are other options.

The second option for box truck windows is digitally printed vinyl. The only downside to digitally printed vinyl box truck graphics is that you can't see through the vinyl material itself.

Another popular option is digitally printed, perforated vinyl. Perforated box truck window graphics have tiny holes in the vinyl material. These tiny holes helps maintain a high quality image while allowing you to see OUT your box truck window!

Pretty cool stuff!

And finally, static cling vinyl can be applied to the INSIDE of your box truck glass window. If you put static cling vinyl on the outside of the glass, it will blow off immediately. It's designed to "cling", not stick. So the static cling, vinyl box truck graphics can be taken off and put back on over and over again.

Simply reactivate the clinging power with water!

"What colors do you recommend for vinyl letters on the glass?"

When it comes to vinyl letters on the box truck glass windows, we only have one recommendation. White vinyl lettering is usually the best single color to use on box truck glass.

Why white?

White vinyl letters usually shows up the best, it's clean and neutral in color so it automatically goes with virtually any box truck color.

Are there exceptions to using white vinyl lettering & graphics on box truck windows?
Absolutely! You can get any color you want. Just keep in mind, darker colors usually don't show up nearly as well.

"Can I get lettering to fit the curve of my windshield?"

We can't cut vinyl box truck lettering to fit the curve of your window because it's likely, we won't have your box truck here to match the curve. However, we can show you an easy technique so you can custom fit the lettering to the curve at the top of your box truck window

"Will my box truck's windshield wiper ruin the vinyl lettering on my glass?"

Vinyl lettering holds up surprisingly well to the rubbing action and friction of the windshield wiper blade. Just keep your wipers clean from dirt and mud which can scratch the vinyl at the wiper blade runs across.

Overall, the wiper blades themselves have little effect, even over time.

"Will my box truck glass window defroster create a problem with the vinyl?"

Vinyl box truck lettering applied to the glass holds up quite well to temperature extremes and is unaffected by defrosters.

"Should lettering that goes on the glass go on the inside or outside?"

Vinyl lettering and graphics are the most visible on the outside of your glass window. And that's because almost all box truck glass has some tint on the windows. Some more than others.

The vinyl lettering and graphics made for your box truck are designed to withstand the elements. And since you want your message to be seen, applying the vinyl to the outside of the box truck glass is our recommendation.

"How do I remove vinyl graphics from my box truck windows later on?"

Vinyl lettering can be removed from your box truck glass windows by starting to lift one edge with a razor blade. And then pulling the vinyl off with your fingers. A little heat from a heat gun or even a hair dryer can help speed up the process.

Application

"Does the vinyl lettering come ready to apply or will I have to put the vinyl letters on one letter at a time?"

Your new vinyl letters and graphics for your box truck come all ready-to-apply.

The vinyl lettering will arrive to you:

  1. With the lettering already pre-spaced in sheets that are easy to handle
  2. With the letters perfectly straight and aligned on a strip
  3. And ready to apply as whole words together, so you DON'T have to apply individual letters one at time (that would be a nightmare!)

"How are vinyl box truck graphics applied?"

Vinyl box truck lettering and graphics are applied using our exclusive, Vinyl Magic Application Kit. This kit includes:

  • A proprietary Deep Cleaner to properly treat the box truck's surface just before applying your new vinyl automotive graphics. It's perfectly safe to use on automotive paint and is a critically important step to proper adhesion.

  • Vinyl Magic Application Fluid (for a perfect, bubble-free application)

  • A vinyl graphics squeegee to firmly "press down" the vinyl box truck lettering against the box truck's surface

  • Quick tip: Did you know that pressure is what activates the adhesive bond on vinyl box truck lettering? So use a lot of pressure when you squeegee down the vinyl graphics.

  • And finally, our kit reveals the real secrets to properly applying custom vinyl box truck lettering you won't find anywhere else!

The other "Auto Graphics Application Directions" you see around the internet are missing critically important steps. And missing even one of these steps can drastically shorten the life of your vinyl box truck graphics.

"What happens if I mess up some of the vinyl letters or graphics when I'm putting them on my box truck?"

If you happen to mess up any of the vinyl letters or graphics when you are putting them on your box truck, please let us know right away. Whether you need one single vinyl letter or the whole set, we will ship you replacements at no charge!

In fact, we'll even pay the shipping! Here's our Goof Proof Guarantee for full details.

"How long should I wait before I wash my box truck after I've applied the vinyl lettering & graphics?"

After applying your vinyl lettering and graphics, we recommend waiting at least 7 full days before washing your box truck, especially when it's cold outside. Give the adhesive plenty of time to "set".

"Where can the vinyl letters and vinyl graphics be applied on my box truck?"

You can apply vinyl letters and vinyl graphics on any of the painted surfaces of the box truck and anywhere on the glass.

"When I go to apply my vinyl box truck lettering and graphics, what happens if I get a few bubbles?"

When you are applying your new vinyl box truck lettering and vinyl graphics, you might get a few bubbles. Fortunately, they are quick and easy to take care of!

All you do is take a safety pin or needle and POP the bubble. The tiny hole in the vinyl will allow the air or water to escape. Just take your squeegee or finger to work out the air and you'll be all set. We do it all the time!

Time itself will almost always take care of any remaining bubbles. As the vinyl heats up in the sun and cools down at night, excess air is released and moisture evaporates. As this happens, the box truck vinyl will lay down perfectly smooth and flat.

"Can you apply my vinyl box truck lettering and graphics for me?"

If you're in the Charleston, SC or surrounding area, we offer in-shop and on-site installation services of vinyl box truck lettering and graphics.

"Will vinyl box truck lettering hurt my paint?"

No.

The adhesive on the vinyl and the vinyl graphics themselves will not damage the paint on your vehicle.

"How long do I need to wait to wax my box truck after I've applying the vinyl letters?"

We recommend you wait at least 30 days before waxing your box truck after applying any vinyl letters or graphics. When the box truck is waxed, the area around the vinyl lettering should be done by hand.

And all of the wax against the edge of the vinyl should be carefully removed by buffing by hand. If you don't remove the wax from the edges of the vinyl, the chemicals in the wax might eventually affect the adhesive on the underside of the vinyl.

"What can cause pre-mature failure of my vinyl box truck graphics?"

Premature failure of your vinyl box truck lettering and box truck graphics can be avoided by following these guidelines;

  1. Never use a high pressure, pressure washer to blast your box truck clean. To extend the life of your vinyl box truck graphics, wash by hand. Automatic box truck Washes are fine too!

  2. Never use an electric buffer to wax over and around the vinyl lettering. Wax and buff by hand paying extra close attention to the edges of the vinyl letters to prevent wax buildup.

  3. And before applying your new vinyl box truck lettering, you must use the Deep Cleaner provided in the free Vinyl Magic Application Kit. This Deep Cleaner is one of the only paint safe fluids you can use that will properly remove all visible and invisible contaminants before applying your vinyl.

Removal

"How do I remove the vinyl lettering when I'm ready to sell my box truck?"

Your vinyl box truck graphics can be removed with a little help from a plastic razor blade (yes, plastic so it won't scratch your box truck). Adding heat with an inexpensive heat gun or hair dryer helps too. Just takes a little time is all.

"Can I reuse my vinyl box truck graphics once I take them off?"

No. Once you remove vinyl box truck graphics, you can't reuse them.

Shipping Trends

"Where do you ship to?"

Box trucks are a popular business vehicle all over the country. Businesses of varying sizes and specialties utilize box trucks to meet their operating needs. We have noticed that the majority of our box truck graphic customers gather in the larger areas of some specific states. Mainly the hot spots include Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Georgia, New York, California, Texas, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, New Jersey, Virginia, Washington, Arizona, Massachusetts, Indiana, Tennessee, Missouri and Alabama. Maybe you could use some ideas based on what is working for some other businesses around the United States.

The popularity with box truck graphics in Illinois has increased markedly over the last couple of years. We have noticed a great jump in the areas of Chicago, Aurora, Rockford, Joliet, Naperville, Springfield, Peoria, Elgin, Waukegan and Cicero for box truck lettering. It appears that the majority of the Illinois businesses that are ordering box truck graphics are catering related.

Local furniture stores in Pennsylvania are using box trucks to deliver their goods and box truck graphics to advertise at the same time. Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Allentown, Erie, Reading, Scranton, Bethleham, Lancaster, Altoona and Harrisburg are among the busiest areas in Pennsylvania for box truck lettering.

The need for box truck graphics and lettering in Michigan has remained steady for a good while. It appears that there is a growing business that is spreading out in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Warren, Sterling Heights, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Flint, Clinton Township, Livonia and Dearborn. This business is working the appliance circuit in Michigan and seems to be doing very well.

Citizens in several cities in the state of Ohio are ordering box truck lettering to advertise their businesses. There are a variety of businesses that have created an online design for their box truck graphic needs. Some of the more popular areas are Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, Akron, Dayton, Parma, Canton, Youngstown and Lorain.

The customization with commercial truck graphics in Georgia is beginning to climb in numbers. We have seen some local restaurants begin catering services over the last year and they have decided to use box trucks as their form of transportation. Businesses in cities like Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Savannah, Athens, Macon, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Albany and Johns Creek are placing orders for box truck lettering.

Many companies, from New York, in New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, Schenectady, Yonkers, Syracuse, Albany, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon and Utica are using our vinyl box truck lettering and decals to advertise their businesses. There is a new florist in town and we have had the pleasure of witnessing the creation of a new logo for this, and many other companies, as they re-brand to bring in fresh business.

Trends in California that have included vinyl box truck decals have mainly happened in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Long Beach, Fresno, Sacramento, Oakland, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Bakersfield, Riverside, Stockton, Chula Vista, Fremont, Modesto, Irvine, Glendale, San Bernardino, Huntington Beach, Oxnard, Fontana, Moreno Valley, Oceanside, Santa Carita, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Garden Grove, Pomona and Santa Rosa. These areas have gravitated towards a more personalized design with their decals. One particular case that stands out was for an interior design company. They had their own box truck to move the furniture and fabrics that they had acquired to makeover their customer's rooms.

There apparently is significant demand for "handy" work in the great state of Texas. Vinyl box truck lettering and company logos are being ordered frequently with the most shipments heading to Houston, Dallas, San Antonia, Austin, El Paso, Forth Worth, Arlington, Corpus Christi, Plano and Garland.

Being relatively warm throughout the majority of the year, Florida cities have a great stake in the landscaping business. These businesses are designing box truck lettering and graphics to advertise at locations all over the state. Some truly hot spots include Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, Sarasota, Saint Petersburg, Hialeah, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Tallahassee, Hollywood and Pembroke Pines.

At our home of South Carolina, we have the opportunity to watch many ideas come to fruition. One popular business that is repeated around the state is renovation companies. We have wonderful historic locations at every turn that require some particular talent to take care of them. Several of these companies make use of box truck lettering and graphics to mark their equipment trucks. These vinyl graphics are especially popular in Columbia, Greenville, Spartanburg, Florence, North Charleston, Rock Hill, Mt. Pleasant, Summerville, Sumter and Charleston.

There is a reality company in North Carolina that is using box trucks to assist in their business. They cover their truck with vinyl box truck graphics and letters advertising their group and offer the use of that truck to new home buyers for when they move into their brand new home. This must be working for them as they have spread to Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Durham, Fayetteville, High Point, Asheville, Hickory and Salisbury.

We have had more orders for box truck lettering and graphics from New Jersey within the last couple months than we have had in a while.
